NRFI (No Runs First Inning)

Also: No Runs First Inning · YRFI

A market on whether the first inning of a game is scoreless; NRFI is no runs, YRFI is yes runs.

NRFI is a wager on whether either team scores in the first inning. It depends mostly on the two starting pitchers, the top of each lineup that bats in the first, and the ballpark and weather — a tighter, more modelable question than a full-game total because it involves a fixed, small set of hitters against fresh starters.

The opposite side, YRFI, wins when at least one run scores in the first. BallBet projects a model probability for the first inning from the starters and the top-of-order hitters they face.

Why it matters for prop research

NRFI research starts with two strong, contact-suppressing starters and the quality of the hitters due up first. The model's first-inning probability is shown on the dedicated board.
